Half Term Homework

It is important that you understand the importance of ancillary texts and the marketing of films in print. Your trailers are worth the most in terms of marks but in order to succeed you must show continuity and a clear a brand identity.

Your tasks:

1. Research at least one film from your chosen genre and find all of the promotional materials associated with it (particularly billboard posters, film magazine front cover features and DVD covers). Similar to your AS studies create a case study of each element but instead of focusing so much on analysis you need to focus more on the key concept audience. Create a blog post.

2. Ensure that you have done some planning for each of these ancillary texts for your production. Have you considered continuity between your products? A colour scheme? Typography? Images - you must have more than one to attain the higher marks...

Progress Update and Deadlines

See the spreadsheet for incomplete work - you must blog the work that you produce:

Deadlines:

By the end of the lesson on Thursday 26th February you need the following things on your blog -

  • Any research and planning that is incomplete (this should also have been improved using EBIs)
  • A first edit of your trailer (at least 1 minute 30 seconds in length with transitions and sound)
  • A first draft of your ancillary text(s) including all features and images (magazine cover only)
  • Half term homework - see my next post

iMovie ideas and help

As today is the deadline for all of your filiming you should all be working in iMovie to edit your footage. At home and in your frees you need to continue to produce research and planning on ancillary texts (see my previous posts and check you are up to date!)

If you need help on how to achieve something specific with editing in iMovie - apple provide detailed instructions on how to achieve these and there are often video tutorials on youtube:
